Fee Waiver for Tire Disposal and New Temporary Hours at Transfer Station
Beginning Earth Day, April 22 – April 24 the transfer station will accept up to twelve (12) tires per household free of charge. And of course, as usual, there is no charge for household solid waste and recycling.
The new temporary public hours beginning Earth Day, April 22 will be:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8 A.M. to 4 P.M.
Tuesday and Thursday: 11 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Saturday: 11 A.M to 2:30 P.M.
DMV Connect/DMV Mobile Services will be suspended until further notice.
Due to COVID-19 DMV has had to implement new ways to serve customers to ensure safety of their customers and employees. As they are adjusting to the “new normal”, an executive decision was determined to suspend the field operations of DMV Connect until further notice. DMV understands the inconvenience this may have caused, and greatly appreciates your patience and understanding. Proposed Floyd County Budget & Tax Rates For the Fiscal Year 2021-2022
A public hearing concerning the proposed FY22 annual budget will be held in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, 120 West Oxford Street, Floyd, VA 24091 on April 27, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible. All persons desiring to be heard shall be accorded an opportunity to present written comments or oral testimony within such reasonable time limits as determined by the Board of Supervisors. Due to the public health threat posed by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, current guidance by the Governor of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Health on social distancing and public gatherings, proper social distancing and protective measures will be observed at all times. Citizens who desire to provide public comment in person are asked to sit in designated spots as directed by staff until the citizen is invited to address the Board. The meeting will be streamed live via Internet. Any Floyd County citizen wishing to speak by phone may call County Administration at (540) 745-9300 by 4:00 p.m. on April 26, 2021 and provide their telephone number and express their desire to provide comment by phone. Citizens who desire to provide public comment by phone will be called during the meeting. Any Floyd citizen can also provide written comments prior to the meeting and those comments will be provided to the Board of Supervisors, entered into the official minutes of the meeting, and summarized by the Chair or designee at the meeting for the benefit of the public. For detailed information, the public is directed to call the County Administration office.
The annual budget, prepared pursuant to Chapter 25, Section 15.2-2506, Code of Virginia, 1950 as amended, is for informative and fiscal planning purposes only, except the public school budget. In no event, including public school budgets, shall preparation, publication and approval be deemed to be an appropriation. No money shall be paid out or become available to be paid out for any contemplated expenditures unless and until there has first been made an appropriation for such expenditures by the Floyd County Board of Supervisors.

Sealed Bids for the Floyd County Growth Center and Building 1, a new business campus and a new approximately 14,000 SF pre-engineered metal building located at the Floyd Regional Commerce Center, for Floyd County Economic Development Authority, will be received by Dr. Linda Millsaps, County Administrator, at 120 West Oxford Street, Floyd, VA 24091, until 2:00 P.M., local prevailing time, on April 19, 2021, and then at said office publicly opened and read aloud. The Contract Documents may be examined at the Floyd County, VA offices, 120 West Oxford Street, Floyd, VA; at Thompson & Litton, Radford Office, 726 Auburn Avenue, Radford, VA 24141; and online at TRASCO (http://www.trascoplanroom.com).

Withdrawal of bids shall be according to procedure (i) of the Virginia Public Procurement Act and to the Code of Virginia (§ 2.2-4330).
Bids must be accompanied by Bid security as specified in the Instructions to Bidders.
Each Bidder must be licensed as a Class A contractor in the State of Virginia; Bidders are instructed to review the Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 11, prior to bidding.
The Owner does not discriminate against faith-based organizations in accordance with the Code of Virginia, § 2.2-4343.1.
MBE/WBE firms are encouraged to submit Bids.
The Contract shall be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible Bidder.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all Bids if it appears in its best interest to do so.
